RISD
sorry
It has been a long and painful hiatus from Aesthetic Dialectic. Digital Media at RISD has been having some major server problems since December, which means that my blog has been MIA for quite awhile now.
Digitalia
I’m teaching a class at RISD this winter:
DIGITALIA: An introduction to Digital Media
Rhode Island School of Design
Digital+Media Department
DM-7024-01, graduate level
Wintersession 2008
Instructor: Jeanne Jo
Office Hours: by appointment
Location: Mason 407
Time: WTh 12:30-5:30
Credits: 3
Course Description:
This introductory level course provides students with a foundation in the software and hardware involved in the creation of Digital Media. It also provides an introduction to the conceptual framework surrounding contemporary digital media art practice. Some questions that will be addressed: What various, and often contradictory, definitions are there for Digital Media? What is digital (or new) media art? Who are artists working with digital media? What digital tools can one incorporate into their art practice? Lectures, readings and class discussions will compliment studio production. Using Photoshop, Processing, and Final Cut Pro, students will complete a series of assignments and a final project.
Yes, I am still alive. some highlights:
- The busy-ness of my third semester at RISD has turned me into a very bad blogger. However, I micro-blog a ton.
- I have several new projects that I am excited about and plan to post sooner rather than later. (Including some fun ones with Rachelle.)
- I have a thesis committee now.
- D+M had a First year/Second year Show and Tell. Bill gave us pizza money. We tried to make sangria out of some wine that Tucker had given Nathaniel. (see video below)
